Nicky and Mike McGinnis get ready for the Western Open Derby. Open derbies are judged according to All-Age standards.

Sal Satallante breaks in his new saddle. His young Tennenssee Walker is also getting quite a work out throughout the week. A young horse needs to be ridden often in order to develop and gain experience during field trials.

From right; Jim Fenny, Jerry Lewis and Clyde Queen chat between trial events. Clyde Queen is a member of the Field Trial Hall of Fame.

Another image of Jim and Clyde. Jim and Clyde have been friends for a long time. Jim bred and owned several Pointers that Clyde trained and handled to their many championships.

Mike Johnston with Big Creek Jones who ran in the 2001 National Championship at the Ames Plantation at three years old. Big Creek Jones won the National Chukar Championship and California Bird Dog Championship. At 23 months old he was RU Champion at the Pacific Coast Championship.

Sam Madamba with Jerry Lewis' small but quick moving horse. I am eternally grateful to Jerry and Sheldon Twer for allowing me to ride their field trial horses. Without their generous offer to ride, I would not have been able to experience and take these wonderful images of the trials.
