Mike McGinnis rides during the early moring of the the Western Open Derby Classic. The Classic is in honor of Lorene Brock who has contributed and supported Region 11 as well as other field trials.

Nicky McGinnis is also ready to ride during the derdy. Both Mike and Nicky are wonderful people and they know bird dogs. They had five derby dogs in the derby and it kept them busy.

Jerry Lewis from Kansas is a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Jerry is a professional trainer and handler of bird dogs and gives credit to Richard Robertson, Bill West and others for providing him help and guidance in his training methods.

Mardelle Mauck of Tekoa Mountain Sunrise Kennels rode most if not all the braces. Mardel is riding a young horse she recently purchased and they seem to get along quite well. I want to thank her for fixing the chin strap on one of the horses I rode. The horse hadn't been ridden lately and it seemed like I was riding without a birdle bit.

Mazie Davis with judges Roy Ferney (in red) and Roy Epp in the background judged the Derby Classic Mazie was up to the task as she is an experieced field trialer and judge. Mazie was also the reporter for the trial.

Rich Robertson, from Idaho, just before running in the Derby. Rich handled Jack's Grandson Lee in the first brace of the derby.
