Pheasants
2000
general pheasant season. All images were taken on hunts and
on wild bird. (Pages 1, 2,
and 3).
Pheasants were standing on top of
this hay stack. As we approached, they flew off in
several different directions. This cock bird headed
into a weedy ditch nearby.
The shot bird landed on a dirt road
that surrounds the alfalfa field. Pheasants are large
birds compared to other upland birds. Sage makes a quick
retrieve.

An asparagus field cut weeks before
and allowed to dry is set on fire. Fire destroy insects
and helps to grow healthy asparagus.
Burrowing owls are oftentimes seen
near alfalfa fields. They are the only owls to make
underground homes. Thus, many avid bird watchers come
to observer their behavior.

Below are images of those I
enjoyed sharing hunting experiences.
Gerry
ran his GSP pup on short outings. The pup was already
gun-broke and showed interest in pheasants. Sal harvested
his bird over Stinger and mine over Temis. Both birds
were pinned just in front of the pointing dogs.
Steve's first pheasant over pointing
dogs. The bird was taken with his 12 gauge over and
under. Steve considered his day hunting with me wonderful
and fun.

A
camp fire among friends is a great way to end a hard
day of hunting. Sal, Pat and a young bird hunter relax
in front a warm fire.
Danny,
Bob, Gary and Jerry are regulars at camp. Bob is a
great host and invites all of us to share his camp
throughout the year.
