REGIONAL
11 ANNUAL MEETING
June 8, 2002
Ramada Mission D'Oro
Santa Nella, CA
1) Meeting
called to order 9:20 A. M.
2) Roll call was taken, having received club dues from all
clubs. All clubs were represented and the Iron Nation Club was admitted
as a member club to Region 11.
3) President's report - Jeff Gilbertson
Points that President Gilbertson made were:
Region officers are expected to put on 7 trials per year - need
help
Is the treasury to simply build up as a war chest or should we increase
year-end prizes and prizes for each trial?
Torben Hansen said we should continue to build a war chest with
some concessions to gifts, etc. It was suggested that we increase
our efforts to find sponsors who will donate or sell cheap to us
better prizes such as saddles, etc. It was suggested to make this
the preview of Vice-President Jerry Erickson and all agreed.
Web sites - it was decided to roll in Kathy Shockey's URL (www.aftcaregion11.com
to www.uplandbirddog.com).
It was also decided to continue to use www.pointersunlimited.com
for points reporting.
Additional web site info was that we would report points both on
uplandbirddog and pointingdog.coms, but individual clubs could send
their narrative reports to go up on uplandbirddog.
Griffin supported the idea of cap entry fees on region trials (i.e.
$65 for championships and $35 for derbys).
It was finally decided that prizes could be acquired for up to half
of our net profit annually with the remainder reverting to building
our treasury.- The motion was offered by Willmon and seconded by
Hal
Meyer. The motion carried.
4) Secretary/Treasurer's Report - Ron Pray
Financial report was present showing P&L for Organization as
well as each region sponsored trial. Motion to approve by Hansen
seconded by LaVerne and mostion carried.
5) Trustee's Report - Torben Hansen
The annual meeting will take place on June 22 in Tennessee/Chicago.
Torben reported on the 20th Century Fund and suggested that we all
try to support it as much as possible. He further informed us that
he has been named to head all national trials in the West."
For next year each club should type up a proxy form indicating that
trustee Torben Hansen can vote for all clubs in Region 11.
6) Memorials/Trophies, etc. - Charlie Hjerpe
Charlie reported that he has tried to trace down old trophies and
he has the intent to resurrect them to be used as region trial perpetual
awards. Such trophies are the H Shooting Dog trophy currently in
the possession of Gilbertson. Trophy from the Delta Bird Dog Club
currently in the possession of Willmon. There is the Clyde Queen
trophy. The Doc Tunnen trophy, etc. Charlie will head a committee
to put these back in to circulation. Paul Broc made the motion for
Charlie to do that and he will.
7) Memorials
Discussion of memorials ensued led by Paul Broc. He suggested
that Region 11 match the Bay Area Bird Dog Club in sending $200
to the 20th Century Fund in the name of John Mares. It was further
discussed as to what the Region should do regarding memorials, deaths,
etc. No standard policy was set in the fear that this could get
very expensive in any given and thus impede our plans to increase
the value of prizes and increase our treasury.
8) Chukar Futurity - Vince Teofilo
This was a discussion presented by Vince regarding nomination of
the approximately 20-25 litters whelped in the region each year.
This was primarily to test the interest of the group for such a
futurity and it would not involve Region 11 resources. This was
for information only and Vince said he would report next year in
more concrete terms.
