West Valley Bird Dog Club
The West Valley Bird Dog Club, a member of Region 11, held its annual American Field trial in Little Panoche/Mercy Hot Spring in central valley of California this year. Several events, including the Amateur All Age Derby Classic and the Cunningham Puppy Classic were held.
I would like to personal thank the West Valley Bird Dog Club, Region 11 and its members, in particular, Sheldon Twer, Ron Young, Ron Bader, and Ron Prey, for their hospitality, sportsmenship, and for making us feel welcomed. It is people and orgainzations like these that make field trials a fun place to share the outdoors.

It had rained on and off throughout the eight hour drive from San Diego. Sal Satallante, Jim Fenny and his son, Andrew and myself arrived in the early morning. It was still dark and we quickly fell asleep. We awoke to a spectacular view of snow in the local mountains and the brisk, slightly windy morning air were perfect for field trials.

Ron Young's horses are ground tied and wore blankets for warmth. Good gated horses are a must for a comfortable ride during the course of a field trial.
The first brace in the morning, professional Sheldon Twer walks out front of his Pointer to flush birds.

Sheldon is behind a thick bush and is barely seen while attempting to flush birds. The Pointer shows style and intensity during the flushing attempt.. A judge on horseback watched the activities.
Sheldon and myself pose Aero, who placed 3rd in the Open Shooting Dog trial.
