A hen and cock bobwhite quail are
well camouflaged on the ground. Bobwhites are favorites
of many bird dog owners for training and hunting.
Unfortunately, the bobwhite population are dwindling
throughout their range.

A bobwhite quail flush to escape the
handler and vizsla. The Vizsla breed have made great
gains since being imported to the USA. The National
Vizsla Association was formed as the result of devoted
fans.

A different vizsla stands to watch a
bird flush. Vizslas are considered a 'versatile' breed.
Note the electronic collar and pinch collar around the
dog's neck. A check line, as well as the collars help
control the dog while working on birds.

Wild turkeys have keen eyesight but I was able to get
within 10-15 yards of them before they flushed. Turkeys
are quickly increasing their numbers and extending their
range due to the efforts of Wild Turkey Federation,
sportsmen and State Fish and Game Associations throughout
the USA. |

Turkeys are becoming a common sight on the ranch. Most
large oak trees show evidence that turkeys roost in them. |
